Zero waste products - ideas from SlowPack!

Zero Waste - two words that are getting louder and louder every year. We are talking here not only about Poland, but also, and perhaps above all, about the rest of the world. We have come to live in times when we no longer have a choice - we have to reduce the production of garbage of various types - and this is exactly what the Zero Waste approach helps us with, as well as specific products that go with the spirit of this ideology. But what does it really mean? How can we reduce the production of waste? What can we replace traditional everyday products with to reduce the amount of trash in the environment? We answer these questions in the following post - check it out and get inspired with ideas from SlowPack

Zero Waste - what is it?

You can really hear about Zero Waste from everywhere. Whether on the Internet, television or in the press, the term has already become a permanent part of our daily lives. Literally translated, the term means "no trash" or "zero waste. "

We can think of Zero Waste as

  • alifestyle in which each person strives to reduce the production of garbage to an absolute minimum, while not polluting the environment,
  • an approach that aims to create a closed-circuit economy, i.e. one that uses the resources it has instead of creating waste

In the simplest terms: it's all about protecting the environment. Unfortunately, these days we can find tons of trash at every turn (including, among other things, plastic, which we know has a destructive effect on the planet). With a zero-waste approach , we can reduce waste generation and bet on reusing trash

The concept of Zero Waste - not as new as it might seem

An interesting aspect is that the concept of Zero Waste was not invented a few, but several decades ago. This may come as a surprise - after all, environmental consciousness has awakened in us relatively recently

However, it is worth knowing that the term Zero Waste was first used as early as the 1970s. Initially, it referred to the production system and implied the creation of a closed economy, as we mentioned above. The idea was to produce products that would be recyclable, that is, reusable in the home and beyond

5Rs - Zero Waste principles you need to know about

What Zero Waste looks like in practice is best demonstrated by the example of the 5R principles. Putting them into practice means giving up certain things, and changing habits that will work out for the good - not only for ourselves, but most importantly for others and us for posterity. What the Zero Waste 5R principle is all about is simple - it consists of only five steps

  • Refuse
  • Reduce (reduce)
  • Reuse (reuse)
  • Recycle (recycle)
  • Rot (compost)

How to put Zero Waste principles into practice?

You have already decided - you want to follow the spirit of Zero Waste and want to take care of the environment. Now you are probably asking yourself: how to start? The answer to this is the above list of principles. In general, each successive step leads to the next - give up buying products you can do without, and if you must buy some - choose second-hand products or Zero Waste products, i.e. natural replacements for traditional products made of plastic and other materials harmful to the planet

Zero Waste products, or what kind of products?

Before you go shopping, find out what Zero Waste products really are. You need to know that these are products made from environmentally safe materials. By this we mean such raw materials, which, if thrown away, will not linger for years on the planet. To put it more expertly: they are subject to so-called biodegradation

Natural Zero Waste products - check out what you should equip yourself with!

Which Zero Waste products to choose? It really depends on you and what you use on a daily basis. When it comes to textiles, the choice is simple, the best is to use so-called second hand stores. However, if the topic boils down to a picnic in the middle of nowhere, or take-out packaging for your restaurant - there is unfortunately no way to use used or reusable products. In that case, we encourage you to purchase fully compostable packaging , which can include wraps, bags, sacks, edible utensils , beverage straws and many other products. Below we have compiled examples of several products from our site that will help protect the environment instead of further littering it. Check out the list below and get inspired to live a Zero Waste life!

Cutlery, dishes and cups - a Zero Waste kit to get you started

Disposable cutlery, utensils or cups have been a staple for many years at all kinds of barbecues or outdoor events. You can also meet themin various catering establishments. Unfortunately - most often these are examples of plastic products continuously posing a threat to our environment

SlowPack advises: disposable eco cutlery, bio utensils and eco cups made from materials such as bamboo, sugar cane, paper, eco plastic (PLA) or wheat bran, among others, will prove to be a far better solution

Eco packaging - a Zero Waste solution for your business

It is worth equipping yourself with a set of packaging when running a catering establishment. Disposable eco food containers are perfect for transporting hot and cold food, and after use they can be easily disposed of in the garbage or even the compost heap. Provided, of course, that natural materials like sugarcane or cornmeal have been used in their production (when you buy from our store, you can be sure that the product is compostable)

SlowPack advises: if you're looking for packaging for your business, bet not only on the containers themselves, but also on reusable bags made of paper, for example, which are a better solution than traditional plastic bags. After all, it's popular these days to deliver food to the customer's door. And the customer, in turn, if he or she notices that you are using eco bags, will certainly appreciate your efforts to protect the planet and will certainly remember your establishment in a positive way

Biodegradable bags, shopping bags and other everyday products

Zero Waste can actually be implemented everywhere. At home, school or work, we use both disposable and reusable products every day, which unfortunately are most often made of - how else - plastic. Wanting to contribute to the protection of the environment, it is worth doing some discernment of what is in our home and what it can possibly be replaced with

SlowPack advises: if you want to reduce the amount of waste you produce, start the change with the smallest items. Think about what you use on a daily basis - items are bound to include shopping bags, ear buds or garbage bags - it's worth it to replace them with eco-friendly substitutes!

Are you also looking around for other biodegradable products? Then you're in the right place. Check out SlowPack's offerings and look no further. On our site you will find, among other things, eco-friendly packaging and other Zero Waste products that are both environmentally and health-friendly
