Climate change - causes and effects, or what human activity can lead to, and more!

Have you ever wondered what condition our planet is in? If so, you know that there are some serious reasons for concern. As an environmental wholesaler SlowPack, we are aware that our actions have a direct impact on the condition of the Earth. That's why we decided to discuss a topic that constantly returns to the forefront of the media, but whose consequences are not always fully understood. We are talking about climate change - the causes and consequences, and, above all, what human activity can lead to. Read on to awaken your awareness and inspire sustainable action.
What exactly is climate change?
Climate change is a long-term and fundamental transformation in the statistical patterns of atmospheric conditions on our planet. It's not an overnight or year-to-year change, but a multi-year, often irreversible change that can include everything from average air and sea temperatures, to precipitation patterns, to the frequency and strength of extreme weather events such as storms, floods and droughts.
What are the causes of climate change?
The main driver of current climate change is human activity, particularly the emission of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide, which trap the sun's heat in the earth's atmosphere, causing the greenhouse effect. Deforestation also has an impact , reducing the Earth's ability to absorb these gases. The effects of climate change are increasingly visible and felt around the world, and the consequences could be far-reaching and catastrophic.
In addition, the loss of glaciers and pollution of the oceans is affecting the Earth's ability to regulate the climate naturally. All of this leads to global warming and causes climate change to accelerate.

Consequences of climate change, or a few words about the effects of global warming and more
The consequences of climate change that we are observing now and predicting for the future are as complex as its causes. Climate change means more than just increased temperatures. It leads to extreme weather events such as intense storms, droughts, floods and heat waves, which are becoming more common and damaging our homes, crops and infrastructure. Climate change can also cause "reshuffling" of ecosystems, leading to the disappearance of species and reduced biodiversity. Changing precipitation patterns and rising temperatures can hamper food production, threatening food security around the world. Melting glaciers and rising sea levels threaten low-lying areas, including many coastal cities. We are already seeing some of these changes, but without serious action to curb greenhouse gas emissions, these effects could intensify, creating a future that could be very different from what we are used to.
How can we curb climate change and protect ourselves from potential climate disasters in the future?
Reducing the effects of climate change requires action on many levels. It all starts with individual choices and actions, which in total can have a big impact.
Reducing CO2 emissions
Our daily mobility has a big impact on greenhouse gas emissions. If we have the opportunity, let's choose public transportation, bicycle, or simply walk. In doing so, we will not only reduce CO2 emissions, but also improve our physical condition and health.
Changing our diet
Surprisingly, but our dietary choices have a big impact on the environment. The meat industry is one of the largest producers of greenhouse gases. Switching to a plant-based diet, that is, reducing our consumption of meat and animal products, can significantly reduce our carbon footprint.
Recycling and reducing waste
Segregating waste is the cornerstone of being environmentally responsible. By recycling, we can significantly reduce the amount of waste going to landfills. Let's avoid single-use plastic products and choose reusable alternatives in the form of eco straws, eco cups or other biodegradable items. Additionally, let's consider composting organic waste at home.

Purchase energy-efficient products
Energy-efficient appliances not only save on electricity bills, but also lower CO2 emissions. Choose LED bulbs, which use less energy and last longer than traditional ones. Let's also check the energy class of the appliances we buy.
Another aspect is to save energy at home. Let's turn off lights and electronic devices when we are not using them. Let's also invest in appliances with high energy ratings, which use less energy.
Support renewable energy sources
Renewable energy sources are the future. If we have the opportunity, let's invest in solar panels or other forms of renewable energy. If we are unable to produce green energy ourselves, we can choose an energy supplier that uses renewable sources.
Planting trees
Trees are the "lungs of the earth." They absorb carbon dioxide, produce oxygen and contribute to cooling the air. Planting new trees and protecting existing forests are key actions in the fight against climate change.
Education and activism
Public awareness plays a key role in the fight against climate change. Let's educate ourselves and others about what climate change is and the effects it can have. Activism is also important - we can pressure our leaders and businesses to take concrete action to combat the climate crisis.
